Cast Members will be provided with Camp Broadway Ensemble t-shirts. Program participants are required to wear a Camp Broadway t-shirt at all rehearsals. All clothing should be comfortable and non-constricting dance-like or exercise-like clothes. Any shorts worn must at least reach mid-thigh in length. You may choose sneakers or soft-soled dance shoes for footwear.

Performance

Participants will be asked to bring simple costume pieces to wear in the final performance. These are items you will likely have in your closet. Here are some costume suggestions and documents.

Curated for parents of tweens and teens interested in pursuing a career in the live arts or entertainment industry. Camp Broadway assembles an expert panel that includes a talent agent, artist manager, and child guardian to answer questions and provide insights into best practices for preparing for a child’s entry into the audition and casting process. The panelists are listed below. Registration is required for this event. You can register by logging into your Camp Brain account.

Performance Workshop – Thursday – 7/11 – @ 4:00 PM – 5:30 PM

Created for parents and guardians who want in on the act at Camp Broadway. Stefane Duret will teach a masterclass in dance and movement inspired by a musical theater number. No preious theater experience required. Registration is required. Log into your Camp Brain account to register.

Michele Cavallero – is the Senior Theatrical Agent at Take 3 Talent. Prior to her role at Take 3, Michele garnered experience at About Artists Agency, McCorkle Casting and CESD in New York,  dance/choreography agency, McDonald/Selznick Associates, in Los Angeles and Boston Casting.  Some of her stars can be seen on the Broadway stage in Merrily We Roll AlongWater for ElephantsSuffsThe Great GatsbyThe Wiz& JulietSweeney ToddA Beautiful NoiseWicked and MJ among many more. Felicia Velasco – has been a child guardian for over ten years, and has worked on over fifteen productions on Broadway and Off. A native New Yorker, Felicia grew up surrounded by the performing arts beginning at a very young age as a performer and ballet dancer. She took a break from acting and dancing in her later teen years, but returned to her roots during and after college – she went back to ballet class and joined an off-off Broadway theatre company after training at The Stella Adler Conservatory. Most recently, Felicia was the child guardian on The Welkin at The Atlantic Theatre and currently teaches ballet class to children, teens, and adults on the Upper East Side. Felicia is looking forward to her fourth consecutive season as the child guardian at the Radio City Christmas Spectacular, which will begin later this fall. 

Celeste Simone – As a vocal teacher she has worked with Kristin Chenoweth Chita Rivera, Adam Chandler Beret, actress Amy Irving, composer David Shire, Netflix’s The Family Ben Rosenfeld, Nickelodeon’s Michael Cohen and recording artist Eleri Ward. She was the NY vocal coach on the movie The Phantom of the Opera. Stephane Duret (Guest Artist) was last seen in the Tony® Award-winning musical Kinky Boots on Broadwayand is also the Founding Director of Kaiser’s Room, a non-profit that offers arts programming to individuals with cognitive and developmental delays in NYC. Stephane started his Musical Theatre training at the New World School of the Arts in Miami, Fl, now holds a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University and is thrilled to call NYC home. Previous credits include Off-Broadway: The Fortress of Solitude, The Public Theatre; The Buiscit Club, and Hard Times, the cell theatre. International: Parade,  Jerusalem, Israel. Zorro, Shanghai, China; Regional: Violet, Waitsfield, Vermont; AIDA, Hot Mikado, Ragtime, Cabaret, Curtains, Sweet Charity, The Producers, Chicago, Il. REGISTERING FOR PARENT SESSIONS

There will be two Parent Sessions, an Industry FAQ and Performance Workshop for Parents. Registration is required for both of these sessions. To add these sessions to your Camp Registration, follow the instructions below or watch the video tutorial.

  1. Login to your camp brain account.
  2. Click View Details.
  3. On the “My Camp Broadway 2024 Details” page, scroll down to “Summary” towards the bottom of the page.
  4. Click link that says “Add People, Session, or Options”. This will open a “Registration” page. Click “Continue” at the bottom of the page.
  5. On the “Registration For Camp Broadway” page, towards the bottom, you will see “Select People to Register”. To register for the parent sessions, check the parent/guardian name. Click “Continue” at the bottom of the page.
  6. That opens a new page where you can register for the “Parent Events” (towards bottom of the page).
  7. Click which session you want to register for and “Add to Cart.” Click “Continue”.
  8. You will need to make sure your “Household Form” is complete before you are able to register. Add your Emergency Contact info by clicking “Household Form”. Then click “Continue.”
  9. On the next screen that pops up you can enter your payment information.

Healthy lunches, snacks and waters will be provided each day of the program. Please alert us as soon as possible if your child has any dietary restrictions. We are a “NUT-FREE environment.

BACK TO THE FUTURE

Mainstage campers will attend the matinee 2PM performance of Back to the Future on July 10. Camper tickets are included in the Mainstage tuition. To purchase additional tickets to this performance for family or friends, visit Telecharge (the official ticketing partner of Back to the Future) or TodayTix (for discount tickets). TodayTix also has discounts to area attractions, including The Museum of Broadway.

TKTS BOOTH

The TKTS booth located in Times Square offers ticket discounts for matinee and evening performances (purchased the day of the performance). The booth opens at 3PM daily to purchase tickets for evening performances or 11AM Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday to purchase tickets for matinee performances.

TIP: The TKTS 7-Day Fast Pass allows TKTS patrons to return to the Times Square ticket booth within seven days of their TKTS purchase and walk up to the Fast Pass Window with their TKTS ticket stubs, thereby avoiding the longer lines at peak hours.

While we don’t have reserved blocks of rooms for families, we can recommend a few hotels between Pearl Studios and Carnegie Hall that are family-friendly and safe.

Theo Lencicki

Artistic Director

Theo is a professional actor, director, choreographer, and arts educator based in New York City. He has performed at many regional and international venues, and across the United States on four National Broadway Tours including HairsprayA Chorus LineYoung Frankenstein and as Riff in West Side Story. In addition to performing, Theo is a rostered artist with the Pennsylvania Council of the Arts and was recognized for his professional work and advocacy for arts education as Artist of the Year in 2017. He is the associate choreographer for the National High School Musical Theatre Awards (The Jimmy’s) sponsored by the Broadway League and works with the Broadway Education Alliance/Camp Broadway on numerous performance opportunities for young artists including the NY POPS Gala at Carnegie Hall, MACY’s Annual Thanksgiving Day Parade, Before Broadway Cabaret at 54 Below and Rocktopia on Broadway! Proud Penn State School of Theatre graduate.

Julianne Merrill

Music Director

Originally from Indianapolis, Julianne works in NYC as a professional Music Director, Pianist, and Electronic Music Designer. She is a frequent Music Director for various cabarets, concerts, galas, and new work development workshops. On Broadway, she can be found on the podium as a conductor and keyboard player, as well as behind a pit computer as keyboard programmer and playback engineer. A recent graduate of BerkleeNYC, Julianne uses the artist name “PatchMaster” and is the owner of PatchMaster Productions, a live experience design agency.

Shannon Mullen

Director/Choreographer

Shannon Mullen (Director/Choreographer) has performed on Broadway and served as dance captain in both A Bronx Tale and Pretty Woman. She has toured on the Broadway National tours of HairsprayLegally Blonde, and Rock of Ages. Most recently, Shannon has workshopped and been seen in the out of town tryout for Come Fall in Love at The Old Globe. As a choreographer Shannon o-created and choreographed NY’s BoyBand Review and been hired to create industrials in the New York area.

J. Oconor Navarro

Music Director

J. served as the Music Director on the Broadway Production of Here Lies Love. He is also Music Director/Arranger for Camp Broadway, Music Director at Lincoln Center Theatre Education Department, and Composer in Residence for The Church of Saint Paul the Apostle, NYC. A recipient of the American Theatre Wing Jonathan Larson Grant, J. is part of the founding faculty at the Musical Theatre Intensive at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting, and is a Visiting Assistant Arts Professor and current Head of Music and Vocal Performance at The New Studio on Broadwayat NYU-Tisch Department of Drama.
