“Those magic changes, my heart arranges… a melody that’s never the same”. -GREASE

Tomorrow, millions will tune into FOX’s highly-anticipated GREASE Live, the latest in a trend of live movie musicals. Featuring a star-studded cast of Broadway and TV veterans, GREASE is a multi-million dollar production that will be shot, in real-time on the Warner Brothers lot in California tomorrow night.

Unlike other live musical productions, GREASE has an entirely different approach that boasts a live studio audience and a scenery design so ambitious that it requires several sound stages and indoor and outdoor scenery pieces. With members of the three biggest communities to entertainment (theatre, television and film) working on the broadcast, it’s going to be a night for millions to show their Rydell pride as they watch GREASE Live!

BORN TO HAND JIVE

Leading the pack is Broadway’s Aaron Tveit (Hairspray, Catch Me if You Can) as greaser Danny Zuko who falls for good girl Sandy (Julianne Hough). The cast is kindly complimented with last season’s Cinderellas (Keke Palmer and Carly Rae Jepsen) as well as Gigi’s Vanessa Hudgens as Rizzo.

While each of the cast members come from their own squares of the entertainment industry since they were young tweens, they’ve each enjoyed extensive careers as adults singing and dancing, allowing the show’s appeal to encompass those that watched them as kids and those who are familiar with the music and characters that are attached to GREASE.

While the title itself is exciting and thrilling for a live musical, for many, the thrill of watching is going to see the many personable celebrities that they know so well come to life in equally iconic roles is sure to be a treat.

YOU’RE THE ONE THAT I WANT – RIGHT?

Apart from being set in one of the most fun and entertaining time periods of all time, GREASE is a beloved movie musical that has had a life for decades after its release due to its incredible music which has allowed it to transcend any generation and still remain a hit. To high school shows, Broadway musicals and now a live musical on FOX, GREASE has proved that it’s the one that we want. The buzz for GREASE has been overwhelming – teasing viewers with small TV spots, promotional pictures and interviews, the world is buzzing for this one-of-a-kind event.

TELL ME MORE, TELL ME MORE

GREASE comes with a certain element of fun and nostalgia that makes watching it not just a Sunday night around the TV, but an event. I encourage all of my Camp Broadway readers, GREASE fans or not, to tune in tomorrow night at 7/6c on FOX.
