Shea’s Buffalo Theatre, the historic crown jewel of Shea’s Performing Arts Center, opened in 1926 under the moniker of “The Wonder Theatre” and was the dream of Michael Shea. Originally serving as a movie house, it would later host live stage performances. The Friends of Buffalo Theatre was established in the 1970’s to save the theatre from demolition when the City of Buffalo foreclosed on the property. This not-for-profit organization worked to restore the theatre and to get Shea’s listed on the National Register for Historic Places. With over $30 million in restoration completed by volunteers, Shea’s Buffalo is the only surviving Tiffany designed theatre.

Today, Shea’s operates as Shea’s Performing Arts Center (Shea’s PAC) under the management of Shea’s O’Connell Preservation Guild. Shea’s PAC operates three theatres: Shea’s Buffalo, Shea’s 710, and Shea’s Smith Theatre.

Shea’s Performing Arts Center strives to present a wide variety of live performances and innovative educational experiences for the Western New York Community.

In 2018, Shea’s Performing Arts Center served over 277,000 patrons creating a cumulative $3.2 billion impact on the region.
