Camp Broadway offers master classes in singing, dancing and theater arts taught by Broadway-trained faculty. Perfect for kids who want an intensive musical theatre experience in a condensed time period, in the heart of New York City.
All of Camp Broadway's programs are taught by Broadway-trained faculty. Sessions run from 9:00-5:30 daily. Open to all skill levels, no prior experience is required. Campers will be divided into two age groups and perform two different shows in the finale, plus a combined production number.
Camp Broadway is currently in the process of selecting our Broadway shows for this summer, and will post the information shortly. For the 2009 season, our younger campers worked on material from Beauty and the Beast, while our
older group worked on material from Curtains. For 2010, we will select two new shows and post our choices on this site. Stay tuned!
Your child’s week at Camp Broadway will include:
- Classes in ensemble singing, dance and movement, voice and acting
- A ticket to an award-winning Broadway musical on Wednesday afternoon
- Lunch and a Q&A with professional
actors/producers/designers
- Master classes and meet-and-greets with Broadway artists
- Behind-the-scenes insights from the crew of a Broadway production
- Meals, materials, merchandise
- Showcase presentation for the entire family
Last Year's Broadway Guests:
Last year, our campers met many prominent Broadway professionals. They
attended special master classes, led by Justin Greer (Dance Captain, Shrek),
David Vaughn (Shrek), Elizabeth Pierce (Dance Captain, Billy Elliot), and
LaQuet Sharnell (The Lion King). The campers had Q&A sessions with actor
David Hyde Pierce ("Cheers", Spamalot, Curtains, etc.) and Casting Directors,
Bernie Telsey and Tara Rubin. They spent an hour posing questions to
Broadway stars Chelsea Stock (The Little Mermaid), Alex Brightman (Wicked),
Aaron Albano (Mary Poppins, Spelling Bee, Bombay Dreams), Jill Paice
(Curtains, 39 Steps), Jen Bender (The Lion King), Clifford Lee Dickson (Young
Simba, The Lion King), Cypress Smith (Young Nala, The Lion King). Also, campers had
a Q&A session with five members of the technical team from Shrek, where they
learned all about stage management, props, costumes, scenic design and
construction of the sets.
